The black that you see is a wound vac. All they did was stabilize. Unlikely that you can reconstruct that. Just giving it time to see what kind of function he has left. May still end up with an amputation but likely will get a skin graft and just be left with a less than functional arm. Better learn to wipe his arse left handed.
