I think people do not really understand that the enforcement and penalty matrix rules have changed since the UNC fiasco. In truth, they were changed because how UNC approaches their defense and the blatant stupidity in regards to the lack of real teeth on the penalties they received.
Under the new penalty matrix the greatest hammer the NCAA still possesses is Lack of Institutional Control, but now the penalties are ramped up and much more severe when other escalator or aggravating circumstances are included.
As bad as this looks for basketball, if they tie the football component into the new penalty matrix both sports take a much bigger hit and LOIC penalties hit the entire AD.
Because of how UNC lawyered up, the NCAA went to the 3rd party arbitrator, but the new penalty matrix is now fully in place. That means much harsher penalties for the lesser issues, so even if the 3rd party doesn’t agree all the NCAAs charges, LSU will probably be worse off than they would have been when this first came out.
This is a true no-win now...
