It's a damned shame too. As I approach 50, I realize many things in life change and things can't stay the same, but the demise of this course really hits close to home. As a student in the late 80s/early 90s, I wore that place out. Student green fees were $5, and $2.50 at twilight. I was there often. And Mike used to hire a lot of "talent" to run the register, so the customer service was exemplary.

The old front 9 was awesome and I was sad when it disappeared, but I quickly warmed up to the new holes and layout and enjoyed a lot of rounds out there also.

I haven't been in over a year, mainly based on what I have heard and read on here. I'm playing as much golf as I ever have and wish LSU was still in the rotation, but I have a feeling I've played my last round there.

I worked there from ‘07 - ‘12. Started in high school and “got fired” when I graduated from LSU. Mike Johnson must’ve worked 80 hour weeks my entire time as an employee. He’s truly a class act. I haven’t played Santa Maria since early last year but I imagine he’s done well there as well. LSU seems to have gone downhill since Mike retired.
