This will by my first time being in Grand Rapids Michigan and looking to check out a few breweries. We are obviously going to check out Founders, but other than that I'm not very familiar with any others. I'm open to pretty much anything even some restaurant recommendations as well.

Brewery Vivant, Elk, Grayline, The Mitten
We went there 3 or 4 years ago and loved it.

We were there a couple years ago in late September - early October. I second Vivant and Greyline, both were excellent. Of course Founders was was great too. Kalamazoo isn't too far away either, you can hit up Bell's. Sunday morning we wandered around downtown Kalamazoo waiting for Bell's to open. When we got there, there were lines of people! They were having barrel release day; twenty or so different barrel aged/high gravity beers on tap in addition to there usual offerings. Lucking timing.

I highly recommend Brewery Vivant and Speciation Artisan Ales.
Speciation does a lot of really cool naturally fermented beers.
Brewery Vivant is in an old funeral home and has great food and atmosphere

The New Holland Brewpub is a really cool spot for lunch/dinner.
