It seems this year there is less concern from our fan base about polls and what the media thinks about LSU. Our program is in its best shape that I can ever remember. We have a solid coaching staff recruiting and coaching some of the best talent in the U.S. We have a fan base and culture that is one of the best and most unique to offer any college recruit that wants to play in front of a loud sold out stadium on TV every Saturday in the fall. Our coach is not going anywhere, I have not felt this since Cholly Mac roamed our sidelines.

It leaves me at a place of not only wanting more LSU National Championships in football but realizing we will win a few more before Les finishes his stay in Baton Rouge.

It's great to be an LSU Tiger!

it's truly amazing that we (as a group) have progressed to realize that what people say doesn't matter. the game is still played on the field, and (like the system or not) a NC is crowned with a ball made from crystal.

My mood is great towards football season. We have 2 crystal footballs. Right now we're where everyone else wants to be. It's a great feeling.

It's all about RESPECT.We earned it ,we got it and all they can do is lump it.I've waited most of my life to see LSU where they are now.

It seems this new mood is still developing. There just seemed to be so much more anxiety with last year because of all the expectations. We had a very good team with an unproven QB. Sound familiar? This year there is no anxiety, no high expectations but yet our team may be more talented then last years except for the QB position. Go figure.

TenTex, I feel more comfortable this year than I did last year. There isn't as much pre-season pressure as we had last year, even though we are defending National Champs. I like being "looked over" by the media because historically, we've done better when that is the case.

You must not realize how hard it is to win a national championship. To "realize" that LSU will win more than one more while Les is still in BR is quite an arrogant statement.

His loss. I've heard he regrets his decision but is committed to sticking to it. This is basically because of all the 5 star talent he has to compete with. It's not that big of a deal if you make a wrong decision and you are at USC. Definitely not a step down for him.

I agree with you that the mood is still developing. There does seem to be a sort of deflation of expectations in the air, where people just don't seem as excited as they were in the past. It's almost as if LSU fans are telling themselves that because we've won 2 crystal balls already, that it wouldn't be right to let ourselves get too excited over the prospect of getting a third (because we don't deserve it?).

Also, nobody really cares about our first 3 games, so that's a big difference from the recent past. Things will hopefully start buzzing a whole lot more if LSU is still undefeated when it travels to Florida. We'll see.

Is there some way to ignore people that are from schools that by my understanding can't even use computers yet or resist the urge to marry their cousins?

Just asking...

To call that an arrogant statement is quite funny. I fully realize how hard and how much luck is involved in winning a BCS National Championship. My reason for high confidence comes from the fact that we were voted into the NC game last year with 2 loses. We have national respect for our program and talent that our coaching staff continues to bring in to Baton Rouge. With no worries that our head coach is leaving we now are best positioned to win more in the next 4 or 5 years. That's our window. Yes, luck is involved. Arrogant statement, NO.
