This is what I have.

If I am parking somewhere I am comfortable or even not long I do not use my box. Places like work, grocery store, gas station, etc. It stays in my console.

For other places I am not comfortable with leaving it behind; I have a handgun box that came with a cable lock. I just keep it cable locked to my rear seat frame and under/behind the rear seat. I don't think I paid but 60-70 bucks for it. Surely they could cut the cable or pry the box open, but I'd like to think most thieves are looking for a quick smash / grab and wouldn't be willing to fight the box in most cases.

In the end, it always gets put in the boat when I am hitting the water.



ETA:
And if they do break/cut cable they will be disappointed.......their prize would be a S&W shield I only paid $265 new for and has been thru the ringer. (why it's my "truck" gun)
