Most likely either cats are clogged and/or failing. Or you gave a rich condition that’s overloading the cats with more fuel then they can handle if you’ve seen a significant decrease in MPG that could be it. I think those engines have injector issues, but i’m Not a bimmer expert.

I have relatively new injectors. New plugs. Car’s running like a top. Exhaust is 11 years old.
