Im all for a punishment for any kind of violence, but as a former law enforcement officer I see this is getting out of hand. A man in most cases is the one who gets charged and his life and freedoms are over. A DV Conviction and man cant ever own a firearm again. That simple is in direct contrast to the Constitution. I think the penalty is too harsh because all are treated the same no matter the severity. And we have all seen cops on TV. Some of those DV Charges are minor BS and if the man is convicted he is screwed. Im not saying that the aggressor in a DV case should not be punished. There is no need for that in our lives. But things happen. In the heat of the moment people do stupid things they truly regret. Some dont and they should be punished more severly. It is the kiss of death in the law enforcement field or military. And now Pro Sports teams are doing it too to save face.
Why should a man or woman lose everything including their livelyhood just because they got upset and slapped shite out of their spouse. I have never done it, will never do it but I can honestly say that the punishment and overall outcome for those convicted is the same no matter the severity. Whatever happened to let the punishment fit the crime.

Strictly from a legal standpoint, how is it that three separate incidents could be charged on him?
Not sticking up for anyone who assaults, let alone strangles their girlfriend, but it appears the girlfriend lived in another house, in another state, yet the incidents happened at his house.
So, she must have gone back back twice after the alleged Valentine's incident? Over a period of months?
At some point do you get to ask her why?
Maybe I'm misreading the article?
Again no sympathy for Guice if he is guilty of any of the charges.
Just at some point earlier than this didn't the woman have an obligation to let other people/women know what he was capable of?
Or is the article trying to imply the police wouldn't take her first reports?
Much sympathy for her if that is the case.
The story leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

The man reportedly strangled the girl until she passed out. If true, he deserves attempted murder charges brought against him.
