“Supposedly” the brands are done willingly.
OTOH, there’s a fairly sizable list of physical hazing incidents where black fraternities and sororities beat the frick out of pledges. Paddles are ceremonial for most Greek orgs. Not the ones I’m talking about.

Black fraternities brand their pledges and certainly don’t allow white students, but we probably won’t hear a peep about that
