My Grandmother died 30 years ago. She raised 3 kids in the 30s, my Dad was born in 1940. That Depression hardness was in her until her dying day.

I remember as a 5 year old watching the Watergate hearings, and Grandma muttering "Goddamn Democrats", not because of politics, but because she was missing Guiding Light or whatever.

But even into her last years in the late 90's. no matter what was going wrong, she would mutter "Goddamn Democrats"
