IF she/he truly suffers from depression, I hope she/he gets the medication and support she/he needs.
More than likely, she does not have major depression. She is just unhappy that her party lost power.

It could be something totally different. She was a celebrity. They can suffer from 'look at me' syndrome.
One of the best ways to do this is to air your real or unreal problems.
