tl;dr: All white neighborhoods = racism. All black neighborhoods = diversity

The discriminatory history behind Trump's appeal to 'Suburban Housewives of America'

Last week, President Trump announced a repeal of an Obama-era regulation that aimed to racially integrate neighborhoods across the country, claiming that it was overly bureaucratic and unnecessary.

But that decision is just one of numerous appeals the president has made in recent months to white voters' fears of crime and declining property values, especially those living in suburban communities. Trump has spoken of Democrats' "bringing who knows into your suburbs" and warning on Twitter that the integration plan was a danger to "The Suburban Housewives of America".

On this episode of "Gimme Shelter: The California Housing Crisis Podcast," we describe how Trump's words and actions fit into a century-long history of the federal government working with private real estate interests to develop and maintain segregated communities.

My suburban neighborhood is integrated already.

We have some great black neighbors and they don't want hood rats moving in either.

He’s not wrong. And anybody who thinks low income housing brings anything other than blight and crime to once safe neighborhoods is lying to themselves and is choosing virtue signaling over intellectual honesty.

Also, the fact that people like this writer automatically thinks low income = black is at the very least guilty of the soft bigotry of low expectations.

I don't understand why Trumps admin didn't do away with Obama's rule sooner.

This is a huge win for the suburbs.

Everyone should be concerned about this AFFH shite that Obama pushed through. Biden has either already said, or it's known he plans to bring this back if elected, and put it on steroids. Mark Levins radio show last friday, and his TV show Sunday were totally dedicated to this topic and what it did to Westchester County in New York State. People need to be seriously concerned about this shite.
