Ponce De Leon, famed Spanish explorer from the 16th century most known for his search of the Fountain of Youth, was mortally wounded during a skirmish with the Calusa Indians when trying to land near Key West to start a Spanish Colony in 1521. He was not hit in the thigh with a poisoned tipped arrow, as some suggest, but in the crotch according to the ship's log. Several of the men on his ships were also killed in the skirmish. He died several days later in Cuba after aborting the landing attempt.
His final words to the ship's surgeon, after learning that his dick would have to be amputated, were "Go ahead and kill me now!"

This is a myth. He never searched for the fountain of youth. That story was started after his death.

He is, however, still most known for that, myth or not.

Sounds better than dying from getting shot in the dick

Interesting...
Yesterday I shared with everyone that the, 'ACE' of ACE bandage was an acronym for
All
Cotton
Elastic.
If Ponce had one, he still would have died.
