Chinch bugs eat indiscriminately. The wouldn't purposefully leave a green spot in the middle. Irregular borders leaving dead grass in their path. While not great looking there is too much green to be chinch bugs.

Yeah the green grass that you see is fresh sod. We had new beds put in and new sod was laid around the outside. The brown patches showed up right after the new sod got laid. I think it may be bugs, I’ll get a picture tomorrow.
