As it turns out, saltwater crocs have always been present in southern Mexico. They are actually found on both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts, as well as in the Caribbean islands and Central America, and as far down as Peru and Venezuela."

Crocs that live near the coast will go in the ocean. The real saltwater crocs are spread all over Asia. From the east coast of India, Malaysia, The Philipines, Australia, Timor, New Guinea and all the way east to the Solomon Islands. The ones in this hemisphere are American Crocodiles.

I guess I should have clarified.

There are saltwater crocodiles in the oceans of Central America.

There are crocs that will go into the ocean in this hemisphere. The ones that live in the Florida Keys live in a completely salt environment. Their Asian counterparts can be found in fresh water or in brackish water and even the open ocean. They are technically known as the estuarine crocodile and live in Asia. The ones here are American crocodiles.

I remember reading about a surfer getting killed in Costa Rica by a croc. American crocodile in the ocean. I'm a weirdo when it comes to this stuff. Been fascinated since I was a kid.
