I love watching great jazz musicians live Almost as much as any other artist but it’s not something I ever desire to listen to on my own. Is this common? The improvisations blow me away when I’m watching but they don’t do anything for me if I am not watching.

I like the hard jazz stuff, but listen to everything. Best way to expand your horizons and find more artists that align with your tastes is to look at the players on your favorite albums and see who else they play with.
