I was in Istanbul for about 10 weeks in 2015 for a work project. Visited the Hagia Sophia a couple of times. It's a beautiful building and a great experience.
A few months later, there was a terrorist attack at the airport. A few months after - there was a military coup in Turkey.
Glad I went when I did. I'm not going back for a while, if ever.
