There are more vehicles on the roads here than the infrastructure can handle
There aren't enough alternate routes
Varying speeds / efforts of drivers. Some want to go 15 under in the left lane while some want to drive 85
Distracted drivers. Way too much attention paid to cell phones
BR gets a lot of rain
Poor drivers. No turn signals. Complete stops before turning. I mean, lazy and untrained.
Tons of work and utility trucks and guys pulling trailers
Add all of these together and traffic in this metro area is a nightmare. Every day.

Both of these. And combine that with bad drivers and bad weather.
