John clayton from ESPN is collecting quarters in a 55 gallon drum. Why don’t we just do away with pennies and round prices to the nearest 0.05 cent. Cashiers can’t count most of the time.

Let’s just eat our own shite, while we’re at it.

Yes. Elect me and I will put this into place. Penny production will be halted and every cent would be ironclad earmarked to pay towards the National debt. It is a good idea.
Fed says there are an average of 14 trillion transactions per day. Say you only averaged $0.01 per by rounding up to nearest $0.05. You could pay off the debt in a year or two, then start using it to fund the government. No more income tax and you wouldn’t even feel it.
Be stupid not to do it.

Can we skip ahead to rounding to the nearest $0.50? What use does anyone have for nickels or dimes besides babies who want to shove something up their nose or poors and their scratchy-lottos?

Neither can you apparently. Rounding to the nearest 0.05 of a cent (5/100s of a cent) as you suggest wouldn’t solve anything.
