Without a year of football you may see several sports cut to save costs of the entire year
Those employees like coaches would probably have to be furloughed and rehired once football can be played again

Status quo has been for so long to fund entire athletic programs off of football and basketball, those days are coming to an end. this isn't about title IX anymore. If you can't fund your own sport, it can go the route of intramurals.
