Yeah, except you're erasing from history all the racist white northerners. White northerners fought the South, but that doesn't mean their grandchildren were at all welcoming when blacks moved north during the Great Migration. A few examples: in the 1920s, Indiana's governor and a majority of its State Assembly were Klansman. Boston has a GIANT history of awful racism. White flight was just as bad in metro Detroit and Chicago as anywhere in the South.
