doctor said they’re just screening everyone at the door (temp checks & asking the questions). I’m not looking forward to laboring in a mask.
That is pretty reckless.
Again...standard here is every woman admitted to deliver a baby is tested with results back in less than an hour. They are not wearing a mask while laboring either.
Think of it this way.....if they are not testing every laboring woman....lots of staff exposures. The same staff that will be caring for you and could give it to you before they start having symptoms. You want the facility testing everyone for your safety and that of your baby.

That logic tells me the husband is also tested then. Is that correct?
And to those asking why I don’t just ask the hospital, we plan on calling to get clarification tomorrow. Just thought I’d ask here first to see if anyone here knows for sure. Surely there are nurses at Woman’s hospital who have husbands who read this board.

Our son was born April 11. They did not allow me in until they knew for sure she was in labor. They took both of our temps anytime we entered the building. We did not have to wear masks. No visitors of course.
Comically enough the nursing staff was wearing an n95 with a cloth mask over it and a face shield. The face shield was tilted above their head and the masks were below their nose. They also removed their gloves to start my wife's IV, which I would think is an issue regardless of covid.
