I actually agree with Les again(this is happening much too often lately )—350 is pretty fricking fat for a center. And as know it’s hot in Louisiana in the summer, and everybody assumes it’ll be easy for a 350 pound man to just shed 30-40 pounds in a couple of months. But even with the cutting edge training and nutrition he’ll have access to, that’s a lot of weight to lose and keep your strength. Especially considering the harder you work, the hungrier you get. I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion that he’s down to 320–or even 330–by the time the season rolls around.

I think it makes sense to move him to RG and have Liam or even Evans take over center, especially considering Bradford—who the coaches seem to be in love with—came in overweight himself. Unless we plan on running the ball a lot more than we did last year, and they just want a bunch of maulers inside. Which may be the case if they want to ease Myles into QB and build his confidence, and they think Davis-Price is better than last year and the light has finally come on for Emery.

The OL was good last year, but I don’t think they were as great as their accolades suggested. Burrow’s innate ability to know when to step up in the pocket and take off combined with Clyde’s ungodly ability to both break tackles and make guys miss masked some deficiencies. However, losing that many guys on the line is going to tough to overcome, talented as this year’s may be. It may take a hike to find the right combo and have them gel—which is why I think we might run the ball more early on than we think.
