So I recently did a full reno on my landscaping which included cutting down some crepe myrtles that are located in areas that eventually became sodded yard. When I cut them down I immediately doused it in glyphosate as recommended and about a week or two later it was cut flush to the ground and the stump was grinded. I am starting to get some sprouts coming through the now mature st. aug in some of the areas where the crepe myrtles were. How can I address this issue besides just mowing over it everytime I do the yard?

Cut sprouts at base, immediately “paint” the fresh cut with trichlopyr LINK, between this herbicide, and mowing, you will eventually be rid of them. Could take a couple years. Been there, done that.

Three plus years later after even digging some up, I still have sprouts. Just keep mowing them over.

How do I "paint" the fresh cut with trichlopyr when the sprout is basically the size of a blade of grass?

Just a cheap artist brush with narrow tip, I have some for this purpose only.

You can a buy a diluted form of trichlopyr that already has the brush attached to the cap, and this product works really good to, but I’m thinking the concentrated form might be better on crape myrtles.
