I'll say this about Drew Brees, I have always loved the guy. I think it's pretty clear to everyone that he's a straight arrow.
I lost a ton of respect for him. Why should anyone waste any energy on defending the guy when he refused to defend himself? There were plenty of people willing to stand behind him and show him support and he basically decided to shite all over them because he knew that in the end, they wouldn't harass him and his family and threaten his future earnings like the backlash from the BLM leftists and their stooges across the league and throughout the general public. Drew did not stand on his convictions at a time when our country is falling apart and the narrative is being driven by frothing at the mouth, low IQ idiots. That is shameful on any level but for a guy with the type of wealth and job security Brees has to crumble and acquiesce to a few days worth of pressure is pathetic and shameful IMO.
I watched significantly less NFL last season, Saints included, than I probably ever have and it was fine. Didn't miss anything. I love football and will continue to watch the Saints within reason. Would have no problem bowing out though.
A society that makes every aspect of itself, including it's formerly apolitical and pure past times into hyperpolitical pressure cookers is one that is treading down a very dangerous road. I find the whole thing very disconcerting.
