If employers/landlords etc want to “punish” people for dumb statements they made in public that’s not preferable but at least there’s an argument for it. What I’m afraid of is “punishing” for simply not touting the party line. For example, a hiring manager passing over someone because they haven’t made a “progressive” social media post in the past year, or passing over someone because they don’t keep a social media profile at all.

Jon, none of those examples are different from the other.

All result in punishment because someone did or didn’t do what another person wanted.
