You could start by getting off twitter and social media (this site included) and living in the real world.
That would help alot.
In the past few days I have had nothing but friendly interactions with people of a different race while out and about.
No doubt there is a lot of hatred, anger, and confusion going on right now, but I dont believe it comes close to representing the vast majority of people in this country.

That’s why this whole event is so ridiculous. I share that same experience that you described. What’s going on is a blatantly false characterization of American society.
