He sounds pretty well reasoned and condemned the rioting and violence. Nothing in that made me change my mind.

The only thing I’ll say about what he had to say regarding “the Talk” is that I had the same damn conversation with my dad. And I’m a white dude. If you’re a young man, particularly a teenager, you need to be extra vigilant and keep your nose clean. When a cop accosts you, like Shaq said, defuse the situation if you can and comply with orders. Sort it out after the fact.

The problem with that is that it may keep you alive, but it also gives cops all sorts of excuses to find shite to arrest you for. I will probably have the same conversation with my son, who, if things continue the way they are going, will be a fricking behemoth since he’s only 3.5 years old and already 44” inches tall and 45 pounds. A cop sees a 6’6” 2++ pound kid step out of a car with rage in his eyes and that kid will get dropped. Can’t have that.
