What is wrong with my skip laurels?

I planted these about a month ago, there's a few that are about 4 feet and a few that are about 2 feet high.
They were all doing great, but then a few of them started dropping leaves, and now the leaves are browning and dying as pictured below.
One of the smaller plant had a bunch of new shoots at the top that are now dying/dead (we just got back from being gone for a week).
My first though is fungus. I'm pretty sure I've been watering them properly. We have French drains in the back yard and it drains almost too well so I've been making sure to keep them hydrated.
Any thoughts?

Without knowing many specifics, 1st pic just looks like transplant shock to me.

Those drooping leaves at the top look like not enough water to me. When you first plant them you should dig a little hole for access to the root ball and just flood them with a water hose. Depending how much sun, heat, and wind they get they may need more water. I would water them daily with a drip irrigation system for the first summer especially if there is a dry spell. Did you plant them too low in the ground? I would suggest the top of root ball be about 1-2 inches above ground level.

The smaller ones I think I did plant a little low, it was basically even with the surrounding soil.

Give them more water and see if the leaves spring back up.
