Okay, I'll play:
Your mom was 22 in 1947. Assuming she retired at 65, her working years consisted of one recession of GDP decline greater than 3% (-3.2% from 1973-75)...leaving another 15 years of recovery.
For comparison sake, the Great Recession was -5.1%. CBO is estimating 2020 recession to be -5.6%.
That's two 5%+ GDP contractions in 12 years compared to one 3% contraction over 43.
