It's much easier to be aggressive when the schemes are simpler, your players don't need to think as much, and the opponent is not as likely to take advantage of aggressive play. I'm not saying Bo hasn't evolved and that the defense won't be better. I knew Nebraska was making a huge mistake when they canned Bo and believe he's another great hire for LSU. It's just not fair to compare Bo's LSU defense to Aranda's. It's not apples to apples.
Bo Pelini's defenses will be SIGNIFICANTLY better than Aranada's, especially between the 20s.
Aranda was great at lsu, but the defenses were very leaky.
I'm really looking forward to this season though. Last year was all about whether we could climb the mountain. This year it's whether we can stay there.

At least there is one person other than me that gets this. One only needs to look at the Ideal defensive player Models by position then vs now. The DL is smaller and quicker. The LBs are quicker an rangier. Defenses today have to combat the HUNH offenses and they have to cover space. Nobody of consequence ran a HUNH Scheme in 2005.
Two games illustrate this. Back in 2013 era we played Clemson in the Bowl game. We jumped all over them in the first half and looked like the game was over. Taj Boyd ran 100 plays and we couldnt keep up.
Auburn game maybe same yr we jumped on em early and put up a big lead. They ran 100 plays on us and came just short of a major comeback. I remember Freak Johnson and Ego on their knees pukin their guts out on a 4th qtr goalline stand.
