Ruidoso (southern NM) was packed this weekend, nearly every shop open for business, restaurants still take out only, but that is supposed to change June 1.

Maybe 1/100 people wearing a mask. It felt like a normal holiday weekend, which was damn refreshing.

Ruidoso is basically little Texas though, the attitude in N NM may be more resistant.

Angel Fire and Red River will be more relaxed, Taos and Santa Fe more uptight. Although Santa Fe businesses are antsy to open shite back up ASAP. As I would imagine the small businesses in the ski towns as well.

Good news is by June 1 retail and restaurants will be open, with limits on occupancy. There is a "mandatory" mask order by the governor but most people outside of Albuquerque hate it and it isn't enforced, much.

And most snow is melted from the Sangre de Cristos below 11k ft so there are hundreds of miles of trails to get out on and enjoy.

I can't speak for CO. They are a bit more all in on "stay at home and keep your germs away from us" mentality. You probably want to check specific town/county restrictions where you may be heading.
