Fark is a term that has become synonymous with altered pictures. It's derived from the website Fark.com created in Sept '97 by Drew Curtis to let users to comment on daily news articles and other websites. Originally, Fark.com contained no content except for an image of a squirrel with large testicles. Hence the connection to humorous photoshopped pics. Fark.com remains a repository of humorous photos or renderings in addition to interesting news accounts.

It's said the word "fark" originated either from a chat room euphemism for the word "frick" or from a drunken misspelling, although Curtis tells people it's the former because it's a "better story that way.". He registered Fark.com in 1997 when a friend mentioned that all the four letter domain names were disappearing.

Fark.com is a cool news aggregate site whereas the users submit different and funny headlines for all the news articles then everyone comments on the new headlines and the articles.

Fark also posts a few daily photoshop contests and is the first site that I ever posted a photoshopped image on the web.
