I mean, the point was always to slow them down, not stop them. That's what flattening the curve meant. I agree a lot of places (most places) took that way overboard and acted like the shutdown was supposed to eradicate the virus completely. It's time to open up and I'm glad opening up is happening (here in upstate New York that starts Friday).
We'll never know how much worse it would or wouldn't have been if we took no action at all. But we'll learn a lot from what happens now after things start to open up again.
