I have family who built one and are still living in it. It was a "kit" house, which many are nowadays, that they built themselves for the most part. Very nice house on nice acreage. I will advise that you do everything you can to keep water away from the logs. Gutters, roofs on porches or decks, keeping it treated or sealed as recommended. These homes are not built of old growth timbers as they were 100+ years ago. They do not weather like old log homes did. You will spend alot of time and money fixing rot if you cannot keep them dry.
