Looks like it will start off with the murder of his father and him retiring for 2 years. The ending cliffhanger for episode 8 should be the tease for the anticipated episode 9 epic conference finals matchup against the Pacers

Tonight we finally learn where MJ buried his former teammates who weren't tough enough.

Episode 8 may be favorite episode of the entire series. I loved the Rodman stuff, but 8 is just pure basketball and MJ intensity. Not much gossipy conspiracy theory stuff like the father death and gambling, retiring, etc.

I won't spoil anything, but once Reggie comes on screen, and starts throwing out napalm quotes, it's incredible.

He may be the only guy outside of Bird or Magic who truly shite-talked like Mike and could still back it up.

Didn’t realize how many Reggie fans there were here but outside of the Bulls and Rockets the Pacers are the team I think of when it comes to 90s basketball. Market Square Arena use to be so lit. I still think that 00 Pacers team is one of the best to not win a title along with Portland from that same year.

Once they hired Bird they seemed to hit another level competitively. They outplayed the Bulls for 37 minutes in game 7 of the ECF in 98 but made some big mistakes late that cost em the game and series. Then the 4 point play by LJ in 99 that put away probably their best chance to win a title. By that time Reggie had suffered some pretty big injuries and they didn’t really have that lead dog you needed to carry you through those rough stretches.

One of the greatest arena images of alltime, the garden explodes:

Hell yea! I can’t wait to hear Reggie talking shite. Those late 90s Pacers had talent. I forgot Rick Smit was 7’4. He will always be white boy Rick to me. The more I watch those late 90s Pacers teams the more I respect how good they were.

Director Jason Hehir stated in an interview with Rich Eisen they address the first retirement substantively and that he composed his questions about that to Stern (RIP) and other league officials in a way they would have to answer truthfully and it would put the rumors to rest. The league’s generally been standoffish when people raise these rumors about MJ’s first retirement because on their face it’s ridiculous and someone would’ve leaked it by now but many people still don’t think the league addressed the rumors convincingly enough so we’ll see.
