ike many others I work in a business that is directly related to the oilfield and I've been laid off from a job I've had for 15 years. My mindset was I was going to wait for a couple of months until the unemployment benefits run out and then reevaluate things but I really don't see the oilfield turning around that quickly. I'm single with no kids and I own my home that I really like and it's about halfway paid off. I was recently offered a job in Silicon Valley near San Jose with a starting salary around 130k. I had already done research about the area and I talked to the owner of the company who seems like a really nice guy and he reaffirmed what I had already found out. Living in that area I would probably never own a home unless I wanted to commute 2 hours each way to work and I really hate living in apartments. I'm having a really difficult time with the decision and would appreciate any input. Please no politics.

If you want to stay in the oilfield then West Texas is your best bet but even that is drying up but right now they have 200 plus rigs running out there
