ESPN and LSU

I am sure this has been beaten to death on these boards, but I have been watching ESPN recently and have been thinking about this for some time. As everyone surely knows there is a negative bias towards LSU when it comes to the ESPN broadcasts. They never seem to give us the respect we deserve all they ever have is Holtz and Corso trying to talk down our team every week. Anyways, if you watch ESPN at all you will know that they are running a series for the past week titled "Titletown USA." This is on Sportscenter and they have some of the most ridiculous places that they are trying to claim Titletown USA for! What really got to me is some of these places in no way should be considered Titletown. I almost flew through the roof when they interviewed Tebow as to why Gainesville is Titletown USA. My question is what do we have to do to gain the national respect besides:
Football
2 time BCS Champion (2003,2007)
AP, Coaches National Champion (1958)
13 Conference Championships (10 SEC, 2 SIAA, 1 Southern)
Baseball
5 National Championships (1991,1993,1996,1997,2000)
13 SEC Championships
Men's Indoor Track and Field
2 National Championships (2001,2004)
4 SEC Championships
Women's Indoor Track and Field
11 National Championships
11 SEC Championships
Men's Outdoor Track and Field
4 National Championships
22 SEC Championships
Women's Outdoor Track and Field
14 National Championships
8 SEC Championships
Men's Golf
4 National Championships
15 SEC Championships
I could go on but I am tired. Anyone else catch my drift?

you definitely have a legitimate point. I've been catching the locations here and there and from what I've seen it's rediculous. ESPN has always had that bias and it bleeds into fans minds that we are not as great as we really are. LSU will never get the respect it deserves, even if we would win another NC this year.

we get tons of respect. We are just too busy worrying about ESPN covering all things that ARENT LSU. ESPN tends to cover the schools who have superstar players on the team, usually heisman candidates. It never used to be this way until reggie bush, vince young and Leinart. Last year we got lots of coverage because of our last minute wins and Dorsey and obviously the NC. We would have been the media darling this year along with florida and ohio st..but now we are known as the school that lost its "only" qb.

its going to go NY or LA simply because they are the largest markets.......... its that simple..... we get tons of coverage from espn...... how many sat night football games do they broadcast of lsu vs. whomever.......... we need to quit bitching about..... we have local sports talk radio shows if all you want to hear is lsu

my point exactly. It's annoying.
We get plenty of coverage from ESPN.

L.A. because it's one of the largest markets???? Maybe, or Maybe just possibly it could go to L.A. because of a shitload more titles than anyone else and it's not close. Could that possibly be it? Nah, just espn bias is my guess. I mean really, the Lakers, USC football, Ucla basketball, USC baseball, USC track, the Angels, the Dodgers, the Ducks, etc...

ESPN gave a lot of love to the SEC last year. I think it is mainly a matter of finding what you are looking for.

I don't think Baton Rouge should win the title of "Titletown," but I think they should be mentioned in the debate. LSU has done as much or more than some of the places mentioned. That is my only gripe.

I don't know if that's true anymore. We played in the BCS CG w/ 2 losses. If you have any losses you simply do not totally control your own destiny. Well, we had 2 as did GA, USC, VT, et. al. Hawaii was undefeated. There was a concensus of media that agreed that LSU was most deserving of the game. That's a great deal of national media respect. Colin Cowherd was pimpin LSU.

Yeah, I don't think you can include Corso. If anything he is confusing because he changes over the course of the season, but I wouldn't say he is biased. Holtz on the other hand is a complete arse clown.

I still think stanford or L.A.has it. So many damn ncaa championships and nobody even comes close.
Baton Rouge doesnt deserve it IMO but we do however need to be at least mentioned before half of these clown locations.
UF??

With you geeks, the networks either have a love feast with your most hated student athletes or they show a negative bias against your favorite student athletes.
How do you get such a slanted view of reality?
