Agreed but we cannot cut our noses off to spite our faces. We are still too dependent upon China for certain industries that we cannot do without. Must back away slowly.

I realize this. Its unfortunate and quite irresponsible that our government has allowed this to happen. My hope is that behind the scenes, we are making preparations to move critical manufacturing here to the states.

I used this exact phrase when talking to my dad about this earlier. And it sucks because no quick, clear, and satisfying solution is viable due to what you say here:

Add it’s even worse than that. China is just so complexly entangled in most of the world’s economy. Hell, we even depend on them to buy OUR shite. This was a very calculated, very long-play by them, and it’s gonna take a long time to unfrick ourselves. But it’s got to begin now and future administrations and generations are going to have to maintain the resolve.
