Contrast that with what's happening now. From the moment this crisis began, Democrats and the media had one priority, trying to damage Donald Trump politically from it. No other considerations at all. When he acted, they objected. When he didn't act, they said he should. They are currently totally fine with bankrupting every small business in the entire country if they think the misery that inflicts will help defeat Donald Trump in November.

Alternatively, there is significant population health value to the transmission mitigation and social distancing efforts that mirror those that are in place all over the world. Which is to say, these measure which are advocated by the effective COVID czar that Trump chose and the head of CDC that Trump chose and the Coronavirus Response Coordinator that Trump chose and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases that Trump chose and the Secretary of Health and Human Services that Trump chose and the Surgeon General that Trump chose and Trump his actual self is not designed to inflict a defeat on Trump in November.

These mitigating efforts WERE the right move, IMHO. However, if the US economy suffers a massive collapse as a consequence, then, the mitigation is worse than the disease.

Trump's task right now is more difficult IMHO than any POTUS since George Washington, because Trump has got to analyze all of the expert advice and then somehow engineer a return of the economy. Continued shut-down will probably cause an irreversible collapse of the US economy, so, the shut-down must end soon. How soon? Trump's task is to make that call -- a very tough call.
