True - again from my own experiecenc - I was born in the depth of the Great Depression. All thru the first 30 or 40 years of my life, FDR was considered the "great savior" of the nation.

In fact it was not until a few decades ago that I had the time to read political history and was amazed to discover that there really were vast political differences between the GOP and FDR during the depression era.

In rural LA, I didn't even know the GOP existed. In fact the first time i ever heard of Republicans was when an uncle of mine remarked that he was going register as a DEMOCRAT because he never got to vote as a REBUBLICAN !! (it didn't dawn on me at the time that he was joking. It stands out as the first time I had ever heard of REPUBLICAN!!!
