Yeah, I thought seasons 1-7 were well done (except anything involving the Martells/Dorne). I can't wait for the next book to come out.

Oh my sweet summer child. Even if we get the next book, I think the chances we see the last book (if he's even capable of finishing it in 2 books at this point) is very small. Authors over the age of 70 typically don't put out many books to begin with, much less George, who has taken almost 10 years so far. I've been reading the series since like 1998, so it's massively annoying, but I'm over it at this point. If it winds up being finished and is good I'll be happy, but otherwise meh, there is a ton of fantasy being produced that's better quality than books 4 and 5 of ASOIAF.

As far as the quality of the show goes, season 5 was very weak outside of hardhome, and the first half or so of 6 was very weak too (the end was of course amazing). Season 7 was decent enough even if it was super fan service, but nothing special. The series mostly started to go off the rails once they passed George (or ignored what he wrote in terms of Dorne), it just didn't completely come off the tracks till season 8.
