Not sure which Weber you have that rusted. If it's only after a few years, they will replace it for free.
Having said that, you should look at the Weber Summitt Charcoal, with that kind of budget.
Kamados are versatile and can do anything. They are also fragile and tough to bring temps down if you overshoot because they retain heat so we'll.
Pellet grills are convenient, and easy, but they don't sear well, for the most part, and some complain that the smoke flavor is not strong enough.
Weber kettle is versatile, but temp has to be carefully monitored for a long cook. You can mitigate that by getting a temp control unit. With your budget, you could get a Weber Performer, digital temp control, and a Slow n Sear for $800ish.
Another option that has been getting love on here is the Masterbilt Gravity Dearies grills. The flavor of a stick burner with the convenience of a pellet grill.

What digital temp controller would you recommend for a Weber kettle,
I’ve got a Weber performer that I absolutely love and it’s lasted me 5 years without a spec of rust. I keep it outside and under the patio but don’t use a cover.
The only thing I’ve struggled with is smoking meat on it.

I’ve had my egg for two years now and cook 3-4 times a week on it and have never overshot my temp where I’ve had to wait hours for it to drop or start over. But yes, if you do so it will take awhile to get down if you let it sit for awhile.
I say this in every thread, but BGE has a lifetime warranty so the fragility does not matter barring an accident of your own fault.
