I still think they’re more comparable to the Reds. The dirty little secret is that the Nazis were a minority party, and the Reds almost had a successful coup of Germany on two occasions. The Germans looked across at the Soviets and they sure as shite knew they didn’t want that. The Weimar Republic was weak, so the average German person looked at their archenemies the Nazis and thought “yeah they are weird, loud, obnoxious and quirky, but I’ll take them over the fricking Bolsheviks.” Hitler took care of basically all the communists the first month he got in power, well before addressing the Jews.
