Try the power company....they usually have some old ones or ones that won't spec out that they'll part with, sometimes for free! If they don't catch a line crew in the neighborhood...they'll get you one for the price of a lunch most likely.
A boat trailer works like a charm to haul poles. Put the boat in the water, use the winch to pull the pole up on the trailer and lash it down. Hang a flag off the end of it and you are golden. Probably don't want to do it in rush hour but early Sunday morning in most towns you could drive an elephant down the road in the bed of your truck and John Q Law would never know it....if you get the right line crew they'll take it wherever you need it if it ain't too far.
