Is the iPad Air 3 comparable to the first gen iPad Pro?

I have the first generation of the iPad Pro, 2016 or 2017....something like that. He smaller screen (9.7” I think) not the giant one.
It’s starting to flake out on me, rebooting and such all the time. I love it and use this thing all the time so I’m thinking about getting a new one. There’s the Air 3 and the Pro 2020. Would the Air 3 be similar to the Pro that I have now? I don’t care about augmented reality or better cameras on the Pro, but I do care about performance and not having it be slow. My Pro I have now is just fine, would I be ok with saving a few hundred and getting the Adair or should I go with the Pro? Honestly it will just be an internet browsing and movie watching device, not a laptop replacement.

Yes the air is fairly comparable to your pro with a few changes to the display and speakers. You should go with the air if you have accessories that fit the 10.5 in form factor and are not benefited by moving to usb-c instead of lightning. If your usage involves apps with large data files, like photoshop that use large amounts of memory or want the pro motion (variable refresh rate) display, you should consider the latest iPad Pro.
If you have a first gen pencil or keyboard they work with the air, they don’t work with the newer iPad Pro. It comes down to what you want and are willing to spend, but IMO both are great for different reasons.
