He was the commander of a U.S. nuclear asset in a dangerous region. He broadcast a potential weakness to threats unknown. He placed every Sailor and Marine serving on that ship at far greater risk in addition to 340 million Americans...
He deserved to have his arse sacked!!!

This cannot be reinforced enough. He callously and publicly divulged that his warship was at a disadvantage. He did so while inside the Pacific theater. And experiencing tensions with China, his action was an inexcusable breakdown of command.
