and its not that I'm worried about the game, its just that I really want to like them. They are a very good team in their division, and are taking the right steps towards one day moving up the the FBS and possibly being a contender (big if, but they would probably be in bowl contention within a couple of years, depending on the conference). Seems like they have very nice, albeit small facilities, and a proud fan base. Everyone that wasn't a Michigan fan last year was pulling for them (little did we know the media backlash that would come with it but oh well).

But, since they are playing LSU none of that matters. No margin of victory would be too big for us in my mind.

Then come Sept. 1st I can go back to liking them.

Thank you, that's well appreciated! Being raised in ACC country I've always had tons of respect for the power of the SEC. Believe us you guys are well respected.

Appy State is a no-win situation for LSU. Unless LSU blows them out it'll be considered a bad win. If it's close that's almost as bad as a loss and if LSU loses it'll make the Michigan Upset look small in comparison. I can't believe that another 1-AA school wasn't available or a non-bcs school wasn't willing to take a potential beating for half a million dollars.

They were ALL taken !!!

And LSU is NOT afraid of APP state !!!!

We will play well, LSU should win, and the world will go on, LSU to the AWESOME SEC, and APP to get a four ring.

and GO APP

Yes, LSU should win and blow them out by at least 30 points.

I wish we weren't playing them either but not because I like them (even if I do). I simply feel it's a lose/lose for LSU.

App state has nothing to lose and everything to gain. LSU has nothing to gain and everything to lose. App state ought to be loose for the game. LSU should not play the game not to lose. If App state gets LSU to be tight at the start they very well could be in the game. I'm hoping that the team is focused and ready to go and not caught up in fan hype.

I've got some news for you folks who think LSU is going to blow out little Appy State: It ain't gonna happen. It's even possible that LSU will only win by 10 or 14 points, albeit on the low end of the scale.

But don't get all tingly Mr. App, it won't be for the reason you think.

Miles will be using the first three games of the season to get guys reps, lots of guys, and get our young qbs and dbs used to game atmospheres. We'll also be running the most boring, simple, vanilla offense and defense our coaches can muster so that our SEC brethren don't get a sneak peek.

Miles doesn't give two shits about our stats, our national reputation or the point spread; just winning. Bank it, book it, take a picture of it and don't forget who told you so.

LSU fans will get to see your wonderful recruits perform and be able to make adjustments that will help you the rest of the season.
With just the additional 22 more scholarships for football that LSU is allowed to use -vs- Appalachian; that in itself should ensure that you win the game.
It doesn't make us bad people, "or someone's Little brother" because ASU decided to stay in the Southern Conference years ago,and therefore 1-AA back then ,now FCS, and not spend more on football than we could afford to at the time. We were being realistic. More schools should have done that probably.
Just think of playing Florida, year after year, with them having 22 more scholarships. If you won occasionally, you too would be proud of your team.

What would be retarded, them moving up to FBS when they are so dominant at their current level or the thought that they could contend at the next level? I'm not talking NC's BCS bowls or anything like that, at least not for quite a while. But they have a good enough program to build on so its not unreasonable to think they could be a bowl team within a few years.

But I digress...

I know David defeated Goliath last year & Armanti Edwards is the best QB in the country, but realistically how good is APPY State?

I was really impressed the last time we played them. I left Tiger Stadium an App. State fan and have been one since.

Good, but not good enough. There's a reason why when they beat Michigan it was such a huge deal, because everyone knows that was a once in a century type upset.

The fact is that LSU as a SEC and BCS school has too much talent, too much bench, and too many other positives. Don't let the once in a century upset make you feel uneasy. LSU will win a cakewalk.
