We know China's ability to do this, but it's also one of the things left out when people bring up South Korea's response. They tested a lot, but they quickly went through all your stuff to track movements and to find possible contacts or source of your infection.

I wondered about the heat sense tracking when I saw them do this to show spring breakers leaving and spreading out going back to their various home states.
