Overblown is putting it mildly if we are comparing it to he 1918 flu pandemic. 675,000 in The USA died that flu season. And the population was a third of what it is today. Overblown if you compare it to the 2018 flu season or what has become the normal death toll each flu season in America. Upwards of 60,000 Americans died just a couple years ago in that flu season. And the average is around 36,000 per year. With a vaccine.
The total death toll in the USA is around 16 HUNDRED so far for this CV. That's not to say this is not a serious circumstance but it is obviously nowhere near as serious as the effect the flu has had on America. At this point. And being a virus it is almost assuredly seasonal. With a vaccine it should become even far less of a threat. Now it could mutate I suppose.
